Homosexuals infiltrating the priesthood is the work of the devil. The old boy has been out it for 2,000 years. Someone should let him know he loses in the end.
What the liberal media does not want you to know. The liberal media is not at war with protestant churches, so they ignore any sexual abuse. They hate the Catholic Church because of it’s unbending positions of no women ordination, no abortion or any type, and no homosexual “marriage”.

Figures released to the Associated Press in 2007 revealed that there are more sexual abuse cases in the Protestant church than in the Catholic church.
The Church does not adjust to the times but holds to ancient Truths. Individual bishops, being mortals and sinners, succumb from time to time to the blandishments of the Modern Age, whenever the modern age might be. In the era of the 80s and into the 90s some bishops felt that there was nothing wrong with homosexual priests, being that celibacy is a requirement of the priesthood. That apparently was going well until some of those homosexual priests gained positions in the seminaries and then control. They, as homosexuals are wont to do in whatever field wherein they reach positions in which they can affect entry into their fields, began to exclude heterosexuals and recruit homosexuals and thus the resultant scandal. Most of that has lately been cleared out of the seminaries and the dioceses.
That cannot be said for the Protestant churches and the youth groups religious and lay. Among them the same percentages still hold. The difference in the publicity is in that the Church is very large and has many thousands of priests in one organization and thus an apparently large number of offenders even though the percentage wss no greater than among Protestant clergy and youth leaders. Protestant churches are small and each has experienced only a concomitantly small number of homosexual pedophiles.
Some of the problems in the Protestant churches are masked by the sects' surrender to the homosexuals in marrying them and ordaining them, legitimizing them so that the scandals are not bruited about because to mention them now calls into question the wisdom of the Governing Bodies in institutionalizing the very Politically Correct Sin instead of rooting it out. That would not hew to the Correct story line of the Media.
Selective reading of Christian faults is selective reading. I expect no better from a poster who did not know of the Regensburg address when she accused the Pope of saying nothing against Moslem atrocities...
How on earth would you interpret "selective?"
My very last post here quoted Ephesians 4:15 with a prayer that it reflect my attitude toward this. Is that your same disposition here?
So what are you saying, we should never point out sin, evil, wickedness, or corruption - because the affected party can simply say you are being "selective?" If your brother-in-law was an alcoholic who was beating your sister and abusing your niece - but he provided for them financially, was not unfaithful, and had once loaned you money, then by your twisted standard you could not speak about this great evil because it was "selective."

I have little doubt I have been critical of the Pope(s). I don't remember the thread you are speaking about. If Benedict XVI criticized Islam and highlighted persecution, then I applaud him. It is certainly a better foundation than what John Paul II did by kissing the Koran in public and in front of the international press. However, please post the thread and my specific post in question here. Then I can defend it, or say I was in error. In either case, I can fairly say I have made a lot of posts here on Free Republic over the last 14 years. Some I am more proud of than others, and I would say the same applies to you. But, since you want to bring it up, post the past thread in question, and my reply/replies you object to.
I do find it interesting, however, that you want to jump from the topic of homosexuality in denominations and among the priesthood ranks to the subject of Islam.
Whatever the conditions for indulgences are today, I understand the indulgences of the Reformation era well. I have already received the promises of my Lord, I have no use for reclaiming the promises of man no matter the price.
Well put, Mrs. Don-o.
