One of the other faults of the “health gospel” is the shift of blame for illness and disability on those who are not in health. The health gospel promises you can pray the pain or problem away. Those who are ill or infirm are then deemed to blame if their prayers don’t bring health, or to blame if they refused to just pray and donate.
When we admit illness, disability, poverty and death are part of the world, we’re only to blame for the consequences of bad choices (baby out of wedlock, refusal to work, got drunk and crashed), not all illness or poverty.

That is absolutely false. Salvation and restoration of health, both mental and physical, are the same event. They both occur at the point of true repentance.

Time to dust off the Bible.

The ancient Israelites brought a sacrifice when they went to the priest for healing; a clear association between disease and a separation from God. Now that the price has been paid by Christ, repentance is what we bring to our priest, Christ.
