It happened in the late summer of 1979 in NW Florida, while I was overseas. I remember that snake. He brought him to a gathering, and he took up much of the living room. My boyfriend was very concerned for our safety, and ushered me out to the car. He tried to get his brother to give up his pet, but couldn’t talk sense into him.
Of course, he was many times the size of your lap pet. I’m praying today will see poor Alice back to you!
