It must’ve been a Reticulated Python.
They’re usually calm but the handler’s rule definitely applies to them; “one person per 6 feet of snake”, no exceptions.
It’s extremely unwise to handle a snake that big alone.
They can panic and constrict out of fear.
That’s why properly supporting a snake you’re carrying is *so* important.
If they think they’re going to fall, they’ll freak out and hang on to you and if you’re not very experienced or are alone, it can end in tragedy.

“Holy herps!” LOL! I never knew all these facts about snakes and their behaviors. I’m ignorant about them, but the more I’ve read of this thread, the more intrigued I’ve become. They really are particularly fascinating creatures, and incredibly beautiful.
