I find her statements very distrubing. Does she realize how many Catholics are in this country and how many people she is turning off by what she said?

She’s pretty but she’s brain-dead like all liberals.

“It sounds much better than having to live with guilt. It’s absolutely extraordinary. If only I wasn’t an atheist, I could get away with anything,”

wow, talk about not getting it.

>>>Does she realize how many Catholics are in this country and how many people she is turning off by what she said?

But there’s even more people out there who have no idea who she is, or even care... I’m among them.

I guess nobody told her that you have to be truly sorry for your sin and to make a firm resolve never to do it again before you get forgiveness. Christ realized that people would make mistakes and He provided a way for them to face their sins and repent. She’s really quite ignorant about the Catholic faith.

If she is an an atheist, why is she even worried about “asking for forgiveness”?

Forgiveness for what, and from Who?

Sheesh, Lizzie, just eat drink and be merry, on your way to becoming worm food.

I can’t bear to look at her. She’s a spokesman for Maybelline and Death at the same time.

Kinda makes all her movies a write off.

She’s still bashing Republicans, but she’s not quite as bad as people are making her out to be. The full quote in context makes it clear that she’s making fun of the idea that because you ask God for forgiveness, that makes what you did okay...and there are plenty of “Christians” who act that way. I know a few born-again Christians who absolutely believe that they can sin as much as they want as long as they ask God for forgiveness (but with intent to sin again).

“CRONENBERG: Except he’s got the right-wing Christian out: “I asked god for forgiveness and he said okay.” [laughs] If you’re a Christian right-wing Republican, then that might make it okay. But the thing is, Newt was the guy who was attacking Bill Clinton for his Monica Lewinsky moment while he himself was having an extramarital affair. So the hypocrisy is rather thick at that point.

KNIGHTLEY: Absolutely extraordinary . . . If only I wasn’t an atheist, I could get away with anything. You’d just ask for forgiveness and then you’d be forgiven. It sounds much better than having to live with guilt.”

So, snarky? Absolutely, but I highly doubt she was referring to all Christians, just the hypocrites. But maybe I’m wrong and she just hates all Christians.

If she’s an atheist, who does she believe is going to judge her? What does she need to be forgiven for?

There one wrong and one folly here. The folly is for K Knightly to opine publically about a topic which she does not have the expertise to discuss. We all have the right to speak our mind but it is a tenet of wisdom that one not offer public opinions about subjects which one has not studied. The wrong was done when an interviewer asks an actress for an opinion about religion. An ethical interviewer would ask her about acting and not subjects like religion, particle physics, or robotics.
Perhaps the box office will clarify that for her.

The freaky part is that she feels guilty. Why? She can harm anyone she likes without guilt, because there is no punishment when there is no good and no evil.

She can be wantonly cruel, vicious, sadistic and vile. As an atheist the only punishment or even feelings she needs to concern herself with are those of other people, unless she can evade those as well.

If she wants, she can buy infants and bash their brains out on rocks. She can give boxes of poisoned candies to elderly people living in nursing homes.

She is free of God, but also free from morality and ethics. She can live as an animal if she chooses, and remake herself as a monster.

She just snarked at Christians for believing in forgiveness. Finds it a convenient out. So, what’s her punishment for doing bad things as an atheist? She says ‘if only’. Atheists have guilt? Why? They don’t believe in God, so they can’t believe in right or wrong or sin. So ignorant of Christianity it’s pitiful. I pity your ignorance of grace, Keira.

listened to believers telling you that they hold the high moral ground and that without belief atheists have no morals and can do whatever they wish.

The King is set on the throne in spite of the opposition from the heathen (Ps. 2:5-6). Where there is no king, everyone makes his for her own rules and standards. Before God gave a king to the Israelites, "everyone did what was right in his own eyes" (Judg. 17:6). Those who are not submitted to the king have their own system of how to live. There are many philosophies of living that are accepted, and many of them are in rebellion to the rule of God. The reign of God is in the hearts of men.God's law is placed in our hearts through the new covenant.God rules us through the establishment of His law in the heart.

This is from Interview magazine. It's not really much of a magazine. I mean, you can buy it if you want, but the "interviews" in it aren't something you can take seriously, are they?

Isn't the whole thing just a vehicle to sell clothing and accessories? I mean more than even those magazines like Vogue and Elle. The "interviews" like this one are just mindless and pointless conversations between nitwits intended to break up the pages of fashion photos.

Cronenberg had Gingrich on his mind for some reason and Kiera follows him there. Then he has something about Christians to air and she comes back with being an atheist. It's not like she went into the conversation gunning for Republicans or evangelicals.
