I would not vote for him just because he is Mormon. I want to know what he is going to do for the people. I want to see the compassion.
Gladys Knight is not voting for Mitt Romney. In a recent interview with BET the famed singer, herself a Mormon...
You see, last time a Republican was president, he became just about the least popular person in the world. So some Mormons are a little bit nervous that having one of their own in the White House could interfere with the churchs true mission of spreading the gospel something with which it has already been having recent troubles.
Mitt Romney is having a terrible impact on how we are perceived, explained Brigham Young University law student Marshall Thompson, a former intern to Orrin Hatch, an Iraq vet and a faithful Mormon the type of person, in other words, youd expect to be part of Romneys base. Im told hes a very nice person in real life, Thompson continues, but he comes across as out-of-touch, materialistic and disingenuous.
...Romneys candidacy comes at a time when Mormonism itself is facing a similar crisis of likability.
Mormon leader Marlin Jensen has recently acknowledged that Latter-day Saints are leaving the fold in droves. The former church historian spoke frankly to...students at Utah State University, saying, Weve never had a period of Ill call it apostasy like were having now.
Church leaders never anticipated the Internet generation would access their history online. Joseph Smith used magic stones to see into the past. Today, young Mormons use Google. When they discover that their founding prophet wedded several teenage girls, it is often a traumatic revelation. Mormons experience a crisis of trust, if not outright betrayal, from their leaders.

“Is this what we have come to on FR? Posts from Salon to make our points on a conservative forum. Really?”
Is this what we’ve come to in the GOP? Advancing a candidate who’s record is to the left of Bill Clinton? Really?
Enjoy your November primary, Democrats. I have no stake in it at all.
If there is anyone who reads this article who does not immediately understand it was funded by Obama reelection forces is a fool
Actually we all voted in the GOP primaries or will be soon enough. Romney knocked out all the other candidates. Romney is becoming the nominee fair and square whether you like or not.
Living in reality is sometimes very painful, but in the end it is better than ending up in a mental ward from living in a consistent fantasy of delusion.
No advocating of Romney here. He is probably the worst GOP nominee ever. But, Obama is much worse and will be the ruin of the Republic if he has another 4 years to drive the debt to over 20 trillion, destroy more economies, control more of the entire society like the good little marxist he is, gut the military, ally with enemies to eveything we styand for like the Muslim brotherhood, allow abject racists calling for blood in the streets and race war to go free, etc., etc.
I have no problem pointing out Romnety’s falacies and seeking a strong House and Senate to keep him in line, which we must have in any case.
But wee will not keep Obama in line and now, articles like this carry his water to help him get elected.
Just my opinion.
Why don’t we wait and see what MSNBC says about what CNN says about what Salon says? Then we’ll really be cooking with a massive surplus of journalistic integrity and truthfulness.
No. It has turned from people who do not want to vote for or promote Romney (which is none of my business as they can do what they want and Jim feels this way so hey, it's his website) too a group that is now moving into the realm of doing the hand work of the Obama campaign. It is one thing to say we will not promote, but it is another to be working for the enemy. When the nomination is official these post on FRee Republic will be officially the work of the Obama campaign.
I agree 100%. I am not a Romney zealot — never have and likely never will be. IMHO, he’s a plastic man with little soul and no heart.
BUT, even on his worst day, he is a million times better than Barack Obama. Obama is a died-in-the-wool Marxist and a bitter racist. If he is reelected, those who love our nation are going to cry for the mountains and rocks to fall upon us (Rev. 6:16). In fact, the onslaught has already begun.
Yep...this is what we are trying to avoid four more damning years of:

You posted something from radical left wing Salon here ?!
Who are you working for Obama ????
Salon ,Your kidding ???
It’s a left wing nutter site !
Jeff, I have visited your website and read your articles — all of which are excellent. More so than anyone else out there, you have stripped away the varnish and revealed the essence of Obama’s character and agenda.
Barack Obama is a Marxist. He is a bitter and ruthless racist. And he is alien to everything for which America has always stood.
If those of us here on FR are in any way instrumental in returning that monster to the White House, we will rue the day we did so.
I appreciate what you have said, and I understand your valuing your relationship with your racist friend. I do not, however, agree that most Americans vote their “prejudices.” In fact, i think most Americans eschew their prejudices in deference to their sacred duty to protect and defend our Constitution.
Unfortunately, that is not the case today with the vast majority of black Americans.
Take Lovee Smith for instance, the coach of the Chicago Bears. He has openly called upon all blacks to vote for Barack Obama solely because Obama is a fellow black. Now, can you imagine what would happen if John Harbaugh called upon all whites to vote for Mitt Romney solely because Mitt is white?
Lovee Smith — like far too many blacks today — is a bigoted racist. He is voting his prejudice and encouraging other black racists to do the same.
I know of no white person in a position of leadership is who doing the same.
So, no, everyone does not vote his or her prejudices. Some still make rational decisions.
I am not suggesting I will not vote for Romney. It is the conservative most conservative in the primaries and the Republican candidate in the general.
The point I was making is that Romney was the chosen candidate before the primaries even started. He was the candidate that Obama had the best chance of beating. That is what the MSM set up, it is what the DNC set up and it is what the establishment RINOS set up.
I read here that Americans were given the choice. No, when your options are taken away from you and you are left with dog food or cat food, that isn’t much of a choice. Cain was ahead. You saw what they did to him. As well as Perry. Both candidates who would have been better for America than Romney.
The guy has nothing to offer.
I understand the general turn on FR in the direction you wrote. But I was commenting specifically to the OP of this thread. There is a group for whom Mormonism is the only thing they care about, and now they will use a website like Salon just to attack a religion.
Mitt and his cronies can bring this to a big screeching halt right now by dropping out.
You will not be missed.
“When the nomination is official these post on FRee Republic will be officially the work of the Obama campaign.”
You are a slanderer and a liar, but then that is the norm for the neo-GOP. Indeed slander and lies (and cash) are the whole engine for the Willard nomination.
More adjectives!!! More hyperbole!!! You didnt use enough. Oh, and proof of your accusation might be nice too. But definitely more adjectives!!!
