It seems to me that it is NOT Mary who will crush the serpent but rather her seed, Jesus Christ.

I shared already, the change in the KJV is drastic. St. Jerome wrote what he did and Pope Damasus approved.
Pope Damasus decided the Canon and it hasn’t been changed
since. Ask, who compiled the Canon, King James and his
