Rick Santorum attended a revival-type church service on Sunday night in Louisiana, where the Rev. Dennis Terry, pastor of the Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, offered some fire and brimstone in a videotaped sermon that on Monday was going viral because of his fiery comments.
I dont care what the liberals say, I dont care what the naysayers say, this nation was founded as a Christian nation, Mr. Terry said.
Theres only one God, and his name is Jesus, he continued. Im tired of people telling me that I cant say those words. Im tired of people telling us as Christians that we cant voice our beliefs or we can no longer pray in public. Listen to me. If you dont love America, if you dont like the way we do things I have one thing to say get out!
Thunderous applause interrupted him before he went on.
We dont worship Buddha! I said we dont worship Buddha, we dont worship Muhammad, we dont worship Allah, we worship God, we worship Gods son Jesus Christ.
He said that the church had to be the conscience of the nation and went on to rail against abortion and homosexuality. His goal, he said, is to put God back in America, in homes, schools and in our state house.
As the congregation gave Mr. Terry an enthusiastic standing ovation, Mr. Santorum also stood and applauded.
At the end of the service, Mr. Terry held his hand over Mr. Santorum and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, and asked God to have favor on him, to watch over him, bless him and keep him safe.
He added: For all those men that are running for office tonight, I pray youll speak to their hearts. At this point, Mr. Santorum demonstrably nodded his........

By posting this NY Times hit piece, along with your *sigh* resigned comment, YOU, marshmallow, are contributing to the MSM’s efforts in making people forget all about the fight for religious freedom. Not only is the Reverand right about Christians being intimidated into silence, the POTUS has “laid down the law” to people of faith, or no faith. Our 1st Amendment right to CONSCIENCE is under attack, and we no longer have the luxury of pretending this is 2008, or even 2006, again. This is not just another election. Think about this the next time you’re tempted to sigh.
....Because they KNOW that Christianity is the TRUTH.
Rick was right! The issue is getting back to our Judeo-Christian heritage and the vision of the Founders. Without those two things, THERE IS NO ECONOMY, ONLY SLAVERY.
The only vision *you* have is tunnel.
Christianity is the bulwark.
The lack of freedom is what is destroying our economy.
Sadly, The leftist stream media won't allow the Obama/Wright connection but will certainly let everyone know of Santorums revival meeting visit and with great disdain. But, the good news is that Santorum doesn't hide his genuine faith or distort biblical teachings as some in Washington do.
Religion and the Founding of the American Republic
Like any other sort of wannabee tyrant, given an inch religious tyrants will take a mile, and will push on to destruction.
“America is finished if conservatives dont stop dancing to the liberal beat.
This pastor said nothing even remotely controversial and Rick Santorum said nothing at all.”
Absolutely right. This is nothing I don’t hear my (Baptist) pastor say at least once a month or more in church. We have the right to believe as Christians in preaching the name of Jesus. And there’s nothing at all wrong with Rick Santorum being there with them. It’s no different than events attended by Rick Perry, George W. Bush, or Ronald Reagan for that matter.
Absolutely perfectly said. There was only one conservative alternative in the race and $20+M in negative ads did him in. Partly because of the ads and partly because a large number of “ conservative” voters got sucked in by Saint Ricks sanctimonious social rants and jumped on the bandwagon of a big labor, big government, establishment empty suit with no record of conservative accomplishments.
What is really sad is that even after the facts on his pathetic “take one for the team” record have come to light a majority of “conservative” voters have continued to vote for Saint Rick.
The Liberal elite in the West probably do. At least they give Mohammed such deference that it amounts to worship. Perhaps not as much as they worship Obama ("PBUH"), but close.
Wow! You deduced all that from my one little question? I am going to assume your answer to my question is that Santorum would not have been better off running again for his Senate seat.
Romney is very much, capable of beating Obama, because he will launch negative ads against Obama, expose Obama and all the things he has hidden, which will be unleashed if Obama wins a second term.
I do not trust that Romney will not go to the Left again, after he wins the nomination. We all know better.
But we will have no other choice, because letting Obama win, will be the end of America and Free Enterprise. It will become a Corporate Oligarchy/Nationalist Socialism. It is already there, but it is just hidden behind the curtain until after the election is over.
Wow! You deduced all that from my one little question? I am going to assume your answer to my question is that Santorum would not have been better off running again for his Senate seat.
No. You should deduce that I think Obama would be better off running for HIS old senate seat.
THIS, in the NY Times? They must be praying for a revival of their newspaper.
No, Obozo is not the Messiah, but he clearly serves the father-of-lies.
Buddhists don’t worship Buddha either...this guy needs a course on comparative religions..
A few months ago we all thought that Santorum and Gingrich would drop by the wayside early. As it turns out, Santorum is our main hope of getting a conservative nominee, and Gingrich is just hanging around picking up the odd delegate here and there. At this point to say that Santorum should get out is tantamount to saying that Romney should be the nominee. Do you think that Romney - who has what signature conservative accomplishment or even conservative leadership posture on a significant issue - should be the nominee?
If you knew for certain that Romney would win if nominated, you would certainly have a case for considering him, even if hes not the second coming of Ronald Reagan. But you dont know that - or, if you do, you know that any Republican nominee will win because Obama so richly deserves to be unemployed. But frankly, nominating electable moderates is highly overrated - as people like Dole and Gerald Ford amply illustrate.
The trouble with nominating moderates is that they will sometimes take perfectly defensible conservative positions on issues, then retreat at the first sign of criticism from a tenable position to an indefensible one. Such as W retreating from the plain truth - the British have learned that Saddam has made inquiries about buying uranium from Africa (quote approximate) to an apology. And like W allowing the naming a Special Prosecutor to learn what his own Secretary of State already knew, and then to hang around generating negative headlines for months and persecute Scooter Libby for the crime of working for the vice President.
Romney won the Florida primary by aggressively telling half-truths -and as Benjamin Franklin put it, Half the truth is often a great lie - about Gingrich by quoting spurious charges that the Democrats slung at Gingrich before he was speaker. All lies, and to quote them as if they presumably were true!! Im surprised Gingrich didnt threaten to bolt the party and run on another ticket if Romney were nominated!
Actually, Santorum is targeted because he sounds more like an evangelical, whom he hangs with here, and who would vote for him more, than the typical American RC which liberals Rome counts and buries as members.
I don’t disagree with what you say, but you don’t have to make it your primary campaign issue. If you want to win this election, it has to be on the economy! Period! Everything else is secondary (it doesn’t mean it’s not part of the package). Rick is trying to make this into a religion-culture war, but that’s not what’s going to get you a majority in November.
