I remember reading a rather shocking bit a long time ago, when the Democrat party “sort of” embraced antisemitism, or at least let their rank and file know that they would not be condemned for it, when they wanted to attack Israel, while saying it was different than hating Jews.
On a left leaning forum, there was a bitter argument between those damning Israel and those non-leftists defending both Israel and Jews.
The defenders pointed out that the leftist statement that “I am not antisemitic, I just hate Israel” is ridiculous, which was so frustrating to one of the leftists that after a long argument, he blurted out:
“If hating Israel and thinking that it and the Israelis should be destroyed is antisemitic, so be it, I am an antisemite!”
A cathartic, and somewhat scary moment.
My point is that now it seems, the Democrat party is moving in that same direction against Catholics. Insisting that they still “like and respect Catholics, that it is Catholicism they hate.” The same perverse self-deception.
But now Chris Matthews seemingly has had a cathartic, and potentially scary moment. He has admitted to himself that he utterly hates Catholics.
It was not that long ago when the Democrat party actively supported the efforts of the KKK to attack Catholics and Jews.
The Democrats have been this way probably since Andrew Jackson, best remembered as having conducted a severe ethnic cleansing of American Indians, his former allies, from East of the Mississippi, and when just before he left office, he plunged America into its worst economic depression until the Great Depression.
Mark Twain depicted a fairly accurate caricature of a Jacksonian Democrat in the character ‘Pap’ Finn, father of Huckleberry. Poor, uneducated, alcoholic, abusive, mean, and filled with burning hate of anyone he thought better than himself. He felt that if a man had $50 in his pocket, it should be taken from him, as he could not have earned it legitimately.
Such men were the substance of the KKK and the Democrats. Hateful, mean “trash” who embraced black slavery for the sole reason that there would be someone, anyone, they could look down on and despise. Such people were also the impulse behind post-war sharecropping, segregation, Jim Crow laws, and the persistence of racism.
The Democrats have not really changed one bit. They have just, for a brief time, convinced themselves that they are so superior to everyone else that they can be magnanimous to their inferiors, as long as their inferiors admit to their inferiority, and grovel before them.

That’s exactly what I’ve been seeing on FB.
With our particular high school class...FB has been a reunion spot.
Many have “friended” each other simply because we went to the same small town high school, even if we didn’t know each other all that well.
It has been an interesting insight to view the different attitudes, beliefs, and values of everyone.

They are always angry, and they always need a target to mock so they can feel superior.
One person was still ranting about Palin recently.
It doesn’t matter that she isn’t running for anything.
I think they would love it if she were - they really enjoy gathering around, pointing, and inventing straw men to destroy.
If anyone is going to start stoning anyone in the public square - it sure isn’t going to be conservatives.
Look around and find the group with the most intense, passionate hatred.
That would be the left.
