I am very happy The Church is fighting this unconstitutional law on 1st Amendment grounds. Every angle eats away at the monstrosity.

But I wish we would have heard from them when the issue was simply liberty. Heck, I get the impression that if you pulled all birth control and abortion out of the bill for them that they'd then be OK with it.

He received 53% of the vote of Americans identifying as Catholics - hardly an "overwhelming" majority.

Among Catholics who actually observe the minimum requirements of Church life - like going to Mass on Sundays - voted against Obama.

The list of U. S. bishops who have spoken out on the priority of the life issues in this election is now over 100. The list now contains 70 individual bishops and three joint statements.

I would like to continue updating this list until the day of the election. I have tried to incorporate all the comments thus far. If I dd not get them all, I apologize. (For a few of the suggestions, I could not find a suitable link.)

Please continue using the comments section to let us know what bishop is not on this list who should be. This would include any bishop who has individually, or jointly, published a statement about this election pointing out the primacy of the life issues.

54 percent of Catholics supported Obama. Nationally, 52 percent supported him. More than it should have been, but hardly overwhelming. 90 percent of blacks went for him. That is overwhelming.

I don’t think our parish will say anything from the pulpit unless ordered to by the bishop. The pastor would not want to bring politics into mass, and would especially not want to ruffle feathers as a new building/improvement drive is kicking off.

I’d like to know the percentage of Catholics who don’t go to church. Betcha it’s at least 54% - the same ones who voted for Obama.

I take that back. A few close family members are “good” Catholics, but voted for him last time and will do it again.
