Fear of death will do that to you.

The prodigal son syndrome.

Would you deny him the chance of salvation?

God won’t. No church would, and I don’t care if it is the pope himself hearing Castro’s repentance or the most humble Baptist preacher you can find.

He committed great sins. If he truly repents, he will eventually be with God, and that is a cause for celebration.

Of course, according to our theology, he is going to spend a LONG time in purgatory ....

Oh, good lord.

Replied to the wrong person - AGAIN!

My apologies!

The prodigal son was not about fear of death, but God’s infinite forgiveness when contritefully sought.

Apparently, Fidel Castro has started to “smell the sulfur” and is hoping for absolution for his many sins and evils. Well, Fidel, final absolution is not 100% in the hands of the Earthly head of His church. Your final judgment will come from a higher power. I know of few who would trade places with you.

Communist Hugo Chavez has not figured this out yet and remains in denial (not a river in Egypt). Whether Fidel or Hugo goes first or second, the world (and Cuba and Venezuela) will benefit from their departure.
