I clicked on this thread to see if anyone would make jokes about Madonna Ciccone, the famous singer who is known just by her first name.

Can’t wait to see how Madonna does at the Super Bowl halftime. I wonder what she will do to shock us all.

And then we’ll have a debate just like happened with Janet Jackson. The liberals will say it’s no big deal, whatever shocking thing happens, and that conservatives should get a life and lighten up and change the channel if they don’t like it.

Somewhere along the line, shocking public misbehavior became a substitute for talent. And the purveyors of popular culture have just lapped it right up.

How else can you explain the meteoric rise of rap and hip-hop, with their emphasis on crime, drug use, misogyny, outlandish excess, and materialism?

I never thought I'd live long enough to see the death of simple morality and the social contract. I was wrong.
