14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
Ah, the mind of Christ that enables you to tell which individuals going to Heaven and who to hell?
This issue is just an example of the whole argument. We see individuals
who believe they have the authority of God and Holy Spirit. They determine what is scripture or not, what the meaning of Holy Scripture is, what are correct dogma and doctrine, soteriology, etc. in the stead of Christ’s Apostles and the Church.
They are the Church, they say, they are ‘thinking God’s thoughts’, they can even tell who is saved and who is doomed to hell.
The argument often is not so much against the Church, but against anyone or anything other than themselves being the Church; they are the sole determinant of the Christian Faith and beyond.
It is individualism taken to such heights as to be indistinguishable from megalomania.
