If A visits B, and C makes a comment about it, that in no way implies that they are “consubstantial,” and in no way presents a “mystery.”

Heated arguments like this thread, with Christian believers - which I am not - squabbling endlessly over interpretations of the lore, makes me wonder why, if indeed the Bible is God’s own word, and if indeed its exact literal understanding is central to one’s faith, and one’s practice, and one’s very salvation, why God didn’t produce something more coherent and consistent. I’ve read the entire Bible three times in my life. It’s a mess. Mysteries I understand, as I am a mystic within my own tradition, but most people are not. Philosophical hair splitting I understand, as I’ve studied the craft and know the language, but most people do not. Why such a user unfriendly tome with which to guide souls? That’s the only real mystery I see here.

It’s no wonder you don’t understand.

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

I agree that it is sad that we argue over some things when the real issue that is presented in the bible from Genesis to Revelation is that man is a sinner, we broke Gods commandment first in the garden, and that nature was passed on to every man. But God promised to send someone to redeem us back to Him. That someone was Jesus. The Old Testament is filled with prophesy’s about Him. He is called The Son of God, Son of Man, The Great I AM, Counselor, Prince of Peace... Names that are attributed to God.

Jesus demonstrated and stated that He is God, He accepted worship from individuals that He healed and even raised from the dead. God said that He is a jealous God and will not share his worship with anyone. King Herod, was in Caesarea and people from Tyre and Sidon requested to have an audience as there was some quarrel with them and him. When King Herod had spoken to them, the people resopnded to him “the voice of a god, not a man” and they kept shouting that, and because King Herod would not give the praise to God, he was struck dead on the spot.(Acts 12:20-25) Thomas, one of Jesus disciples, when seeing Him physically alive after his crucifixion, death, burial, and ressurection said to Him “ My Lord and My God” and worshiped Him. Phillip, another disciple said to Him “show us the Father and it will be enough” Jesus said to him, “Phillip, have I not been with you long enough for you to know that I and the Father are one.’ The Jewish authorities had tried to stone Jesus many times because He said that He was equal with God. Read John, chaper 8, where Jesus states that I AM, which is the name that God used for himself when Moses asked Him what he should say to the leaders of Israel while still in Egypt, before the exodus.

The bible is not a mess. To those who have not acceptd Gods gift of forgivness and salvation through Jesus, yes, the Bible will seem a mess. To those who have been saved by the Grace of God through Jesus, the Bible is clear in its message that we all must be saved.
