I've been on FR for going on thirteen years and my experience is that Catholic FReepers are some of the most hateful, pride-filled elitist snobs I have ever encountered. If I had managed to remain in the Catholic Church until I had come here (which I didn't, not having sufficient brain power to remain in the "thinking man's religion," despite the fact that I thought all the time and I couldn't get anything to make sense) I would have left in disgust at the behavior of Catholic FReepers.
I'm no longer a chrstian of any sort, but even in a world where the vast majority of christians aren't Protestant at all (Eastern Orthodox, Non-Chalcaedonian, Non-Ephesine, etc.) Catholics seem to have a special nastiness and almost an allergy to any simple person who has the misfortune of being a rural Anglo-American rather than something as exotic as a Polish, Philippine, or Mayan peasant.
I wonder if Catholic FReepers ever hear the sounds of their own voices. They come across not only as people who don't like "rednecks," but who just plain don't want them.
Maybe they would feel better in contemporary Massachusetts.
Catholics are not nice? Is it wrong to defend against the onslaughts of false history, emotionalism, and illogic that are routinely hurled at Catholic doctrine?
