I spoke with my Dad last night and his left side has been damaged but he may recover. He has lost sight in his left eye and no feeling in his left side.
My Dad recently told me that he had the opportunity to be an altar server for Msgr Fulton Sheen when he was in Washington DC and that my Mother began her conversion to Catholicism with Msgr Sheen. So he has hopes by Bishop Sheen to become a saint.

Very similar to my Dad - currently loss of sight in one eye and weakness down one side - still struggling to make good sentences. I wish I could get to Queensland at the moment to see him put trust that he will be better by the time I can get there mid January. My Dad too is a great admirer of Fulton Sheen and avid reader of anything he could get his hands on of his. We didn’t get his broadcasts here in Australia.
