Judaism of St. Paul’s era was heavily influenced by Platonism. Christianity grew out of Hellenistic Judaism rather than Palestianian Judaism. The fact the New Testament was written in Greek rather than Hebrew should provide a cultural clue.

It should; as well anyone who has studied Church history knows that the early Church resided primarily in Greek controlled areas - Greece, Turkey, what is now Syria, and most of the North African coatal areas. The Septuagint, as you have kindly pointed out, agrees with the Dead Sea scrolls. There are a number of instances in the Bible where the word play only works in the Greek; it does not in either Hebrew or Aramaic.

Evangelicals choose to model their understanding of Judaism on 21st century Orthodox Judaism, which split with Temple-era Judaism 21 centuries ago.
