To: one Lord one faith one baptism
>>Peter told the people in Acts 2:38 to be baptized so their sins WOULD be forgiven. a future event.<<

No he didn’t.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

“for” = because of.

>>forgiveness of sins HAD NOT OCCURRED YET.<<

Notice how repent came before the baptized? In order to repent they had to believe and once they repented their sins were forgiven.

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented

The repentance led to salvation not the baptism.

Acts 2:38
Young’s Literal Translation (YLT)

38and Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,

“to remission of sins”

isn’t it amazing how the cults are always changing the meaning of Scripture?
