I turned to the Church Fathers because they were not tainted by the Protestant-Roman Catholic squabble.

My views on theology are far closer to those of the Eastern Orthodox than St. Thomas Aquinas or the scholastics.

What we get on these boards is more eisegesis than textual exegesis.

When I was a Protestant, I had certain presuppositions when it came to understanding the text that preceded my understanding of the verses.

Most of my theological training has been through reading the Greek fathers and the Eastern Orthodox rather than the scholastics.
