Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

They are every bit as ridiculous as the stories told by the fake SEALs and Green Berets whose missions were so sensitive that the DoD destroyed their records. I'm sure they are rooted in the same psychology or psychosis.

Or as in the children who deny that they are tired and need to take a nap.

The only thing that they discovered was wealth and power.

How funny that is.. Luther died a poor man ....meanwhile Rome built the Vatican on the backs of the poor paying to get out of purgatory and the sale of relics ...where did the pope get his jewels and furs..

Do you believe that Paul was lying when he told us that the Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth? Or is that redacted from your Bible too?

Indeed that is a strong biblical truth ... but like all truths we need to hold it up to the light for understanding ...

Ah, so we have another Bible literalist that is really not actually literal. The Bible really means whatever it is that I happen to say this afternoon about tea time.

1st..what is the JOB of pillars and foundations?? why they hold something up... so what is the church to uphold?? THE SCRIPTURES ..the work of the church is to hold the truth of the scriptures up so people can come to faith in Christ and be saved.. (Romans 10:17)

If you put that to a tune, I'll bet that Britney Spears could lip synch it. The work of the Church is to go forth and make believers of all men, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

2nd Catholics ASSUME that THEY are the church which is spoken of ...a falsehood of huge proportions.. proven by the very fact they have a low view of scripture and do not preach the gospel so that men can be saved..

To the contrary, we have a very reverent view of Scripture. It is the heretics and the apostates that we have a low view of.

"TRANSLATION... we do not know..we will have to ask the priest tomorrow"

Admitting that is a good first step and seeing the priest will do you a lot of good. In fact, its the first intelligent thing you have posted in a looooooong time.

I find your works of fiction to be oddly refreshing in the morass of antiCatholicism.

We never said that the Holy Spirit did not come on men. Why would you say that we do not?

We are also the Christian Church, not the Jewish one. Why do you conflate the two?

As you post, I do not find any understanding of the Holy Spirit, or the Church of Jesus Christ. I do find prooftexting that would seem to point to the establishment of the doctrines of whatever I come up with this afternoon.

"Arguing with Protestants is like arguing with brick walls."

Don't equate arguing with a bunch of 250+ lb biddies who are in full rage and remorse for having spent the last three days with both hooves in the trough. There are actually many intelligent Protestants who differ with us on a few points of doctrine but otherwise sincerely embrace Christianity.

Too much ignorance here. Have a blessed day.

It is more than ignorance. Ignorance is not willful.

5.You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you will also be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.” (Romans 11:19-23)

But if they continue in pride and unbelief...

Poor man? He was a landed estate owner with a large group of farmers working the land for him, and university professor. Do you people even bother believing yourselves? Have you even heard of his estate house?

Christians do not rebaptize. You said that you did. Are you now lumping yourself in with Mormons? I thought that you were some flavour of Presbyterian - not sure of which: the pro-gay or the mandatory gay type...

And according to the premise behind it, being the instrument of Divine revelation equates to having assured infallibility, via formal decent, and thus submission to the natural branches would be mandated.

But as it does not, and God established most of Scripture and preserved Truth without an assuredly infallible magisterium, thus Christianity required dissent from those who presumed that formal decent assured perpetual and supreme doctrinal authority. And thus the authority of John the Baptist and the Lord Himself was a problem for them. And as God can raise up from stones children to Abraham, so He can do today by faith in the gospel of grace, to continue to build His church of the regenerate.

Did I ever say that the Latin Church is the whole Catholic Church? Why do antiCatholics keep making the most boneheaded statements over and over again?

"Luther died a poor man ...."

Except that he died in the 10,000+ square foot Lutherhaus, a former monastery surrounded by extensive farm lands, all given to him as a wedding gift by the Protestant Elector of Saxony. Maybe she is referring to "poor in spirit" because he died confessing the sins of his schism and asking for reconciliation with the Church.
