Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

>>which you don’t understand to save your soul.<<

Jesus saved my soul. That’s the difference between us and Catholics. They are not to sure how it happens.

>>So you admit the credibility of the historical Christian teaching<<

Nope, I was just showing the incredible double standards of Catholics. They claim the Apostles were there but never wrote about such a monumental event.

>>Do ye all follow the bishop, as Jesus Christ doth the Father<<

They aren’t even Biblically qualified to hold the office why would we follow someone the scripture says is not supposed to be in that position?

1Co 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

There, a response from Scripture, but you won't understand it because you believe that CynicalBer interprets CynicalBear.

Yep, mixing pagan practices with Christianity like the Catholics do fornicating with idols. God doesn’t look kindly on the graven images the Catholics relish.

Now Jesus did many other 'signs' in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book.... but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.......John 20:30-31

I write these things TO YOU WHO BELIEVE in the name of the Son of God that you may 'know' that you have eternal life.... 1 John 5:13

I think it's very interesting that the first verse above leans toward those who might not yet believe, (the use of 'may' could indicate some of the hearers hadn't yet believed though listening and wanting to know the truth). ..... it would also appear to encourage those who do believe.

The other, John 5:13, is definately for those who do believe so that they may "KNOW" they have eternal life.

Either way the scriptures attest that the scriptures can and do lead people to the truth they desire, and for that come to realize they need a Savior... that once they accept His forgiveness, freely given, the scriptures will confirm to them that they are indeed saved and their security in Christ sealed.

Jesus often explained the meaning of the Scripture from which they had strayed from...stating... “have you not read,” ....“it is written,” .....“For I say to you,” etc. ... and here Paul states...“Holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict” (Titus 1:9)

If someone cannot see a teacher is off on the fundamentals when they are shown the problem they are unable to receive from Scripture, they have not been trained by the word. ......'Holding fast the word' is someone who is Bible based,.. sound in his understanding of what the Scripture says and does not say... He understands what God has said as God’s word is living and active today just as it was when it was spoken or written.... http://www.letusreason.org/Doct56.htm

Especially John says that he did not write down everything Jesus did but selected what was written so that people could believe.

He says, BUT THESE THINGS were written so that you may believe.

IOW, John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote what God the Holy Spirit knew would be enough testimony about Jesus to lead someone to faith in Jesus.

You conveniently left out 'what God wants us to know'

I disregarded your phrase because it is entirely void, conjured from thin air, and absent from scripture or any teaching of the Fathers. Your brazen and unsupported assertion renders the unwritten teachings of Jesus, noted by John, as essentially null and void. ALL the teachings of Jesus were implemented by the Apostles setting up Church sacraments, doctrine, and ceremonies.

The bible never claims to be self-sufficient but rather dependent upon the Church. How did the Church operate for her first 350 years without a canonized New Testament or her first decades with little or no NT scripture? How could the Catholic Church create her bible before possessing a bible to guide her unless she is infallibly guided by the Paraclete, as Christ promised?

Why bother? Just opinions of a fallible man...

And references to bibliolatry goes right over their heads.

No, the Nicolaitans were not a gnostic heretical sect. That is the RCC’s standard coverup lie. They were the antichrist theology that later gave birth to the Roman catholic ‘church.’

her first decades

They happened upon a Methodist Hymnal in 35 AD. Otherwise the Church never would have made it...

It must be something to be filled with such hatred and bigotry that you refuse to listen to historical fact.

Rather than standing in God’s place as the judge of the Catholic Church worry about your own salvation.

1 John 3:15
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

They are like the Muslims who literally worship the Quran.

When someone was rumored to have flushed the Quran down the toilet the Muslims rioted because they thought the Marines had desecrated their God.

Protestant Fundamentalist worship the Bible NOT GOD.

They used the OT Scripture and the letters of Paul, which Peter called Scripture.

There was also the letters to the seven churches documented by John from Jesus to those individual churches.

"They?" You mean Greek Father St. John of Damascus, champion of the Assumption? Why should anyone accept your speculation over his testimony?
