The 3000 killed at Mt Sinai didn't think they were worshiping another god, but they used the symbols of their former pagan god to worship YHVH. YHVH says x-mas trees are no different in His eyes than the golden calf. It's not about us, it's about HIM and as long as His children cling to the ways & symbols of idolatry, the curses of Deut 28 will continue to escalate.
