The point had nothing to do with the Bereans. It had to do with Paul commending anyone for using scripture alone for testing what a teacher was teaching. Something Catholics seem to miss.
But, if they were commended for using the Scripture (alone or not) they would have also been spoken ill of for using something that was uninspired Scripture. So, you drop part of what the Bereans had and then ignore the fact that they were commended for searching Scripture that included what you throw out. Now, that's funny.
Yeah, it's all about Paul commending them as long as you don't think too much about what was included in the Scriptures he was commending them for searching. LOL.
