Do Catholics not understand what is written and sanctioned in scripture?
Singing hymns is not only sanctioned but encouraged.
Acts 16:25 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;
Ephesians 5:19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,
As is praying in groups.
