At my sons’ all-boys high school, there doesn't seem to be as much attention generally paid to hair.
I guess that's probably because the administration will give you a haircut if your hair touches the collar, and, well,..., there are no girls to impress!

They’re just hysterical. It’s not just Bill - half the boys in the neighborhood and the church youth are all “Beau Handsome,” although few pull it off as well as Bill does, I have to say. He really does have a lot genetic advantages, including thick naturally curly hair, from me ;-). Girls used to call out to him as he was running around the neighborhood, when he did more running in the afternoon; it embarassed him terribly in those days, but now he just smirks.
Tom, who is very stout and not as clean as he should be, impresses with his brain: he’s on the debate team and the science competition teams partly for the girls. “Who’s on the Science Olympiad team?” “Erica.” “Oh, yeah, I’m interested!”
