boatbums, I think that I am mainly here to defend the Catholic Church.

I found the Truth. It was right there, down the street, at the Catholic Church.

That is why every single day I thank God that He made me Catholic.

I truly feel that somehow, someway, I received this incredible GIFT. Sometimes I wonder, why me God, why am I so blessed.

The belief that all is spiritual and that there is no salvation for the physical has been around for eons. That Jesus was spirit and not body is a part of that belief. It is just not true.

Nobody said that there was no salvation for the physical. Physical ceremonies and practices do not produce spiritual realities, but rather reflect them.

They are shadows of the spiritual reality.

It's like we have shadows that move when we move, but just because our shadows mimic our motions does not mean they cause us to move.

Now boatbums as long as you are not saying bad things about Jesus’s momma, you may be a-okay. But if you are thinking or speaking unkind things about the Mother of our Lord, (the Mother of God) you may have some answering to do when you face Jesus in your final judgement.

And what bad or unkind things are people saying about Mary?

Yeah, but what’s that got to do with me? The church I go to is as pro-life and anti-abortion as it comes. They do not support abortion in any way and if they did, it wouldn’t be a church I’d attend any more.

Good for you!

We agree on a major issue.

That's irrelevant to the discussion. He was not commanding them to be baptized.

It is not irrelevant to the discussion you were having with Rnmomof7 about the different baptisms in Scripture. IIRC, you stated that all mentions of the word "baptism" meant water baptism. This was another example where Jesus spoke of baptism and it was definitely not water baptism.

I thank God every day that he showed me Jesus, that he redeemed me, saved me, made me his child, loves me and always deals with me through grace. I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

boatbums, you left the Eucharist. I have found it. I could never give it up.

Wow, you left the Eucharist. It truly boggles my mind.

Please understand, I am not being unkind here. I am just amazed. That is something I have searched for all of my life and finally found and you and metmom gave it up.

Wow.

It doesn’t matter to me whether or not I agree with the teachings of the Catholic Church (though I do), I could not leave because of the Eucharist.

"IIRC, you stated that all mentions of the word "baptism" meant water baptism."

Your recollection is flawed. Please reread my post #3727.

“So, you deny that your first posting about this named Moody as where this imaginary “professor” came from?”

Nope. Not one bit. Naming something is not in itself the same thing as slamming it.

“Remember, blue-duncan commented that he stood by Moody’s and stated that they would not have permitted such a professor to teach like that?”

So what? His opinion is actually meaningless. No matter ho wmuch he adores the place that neither means he is right nor does it mean mentioning Moody’s is a slam.

“I guess if “love for Christ” can only possibly be held by Catholics, then you never WILL see it.”

It can be held by others. But it hasn’t been evidenced by you.

“However, it is Jesus who knows my heart and he’s the one who really matters.”

He does. Moody’s doesn’t now does it?

Your entired premise is wrong. Traditions do not negate the need to study. Sacred Traditions from God and His Church have a different function.

You apparently know no more about Tradition than you do Scripture. You’re the one who hasn’t studied apparently.

Just in case y'all haven't gotten to these yet:

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. – John 1:33

And, being assembled together with [them], commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, [saith he], ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. – Acts 1:4-5

And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. – Acts 11:15-16

God's Name is I AM.

That is scary - “many here grew up Catholic but left by God’s leading”

Are you completely sure that it was “God” and not Satan that lead you out??

It appears to be a sidebar on baptism, e.g. types, importance.

I just offered a few Scriptures. But you can read back on boatbums, RnMomof7 and Natural Law for more information.

That would be where you are wrong. Hasn't anybody explained to you that almost all Christians celebrate the Lord's Supper? It is done, as he said, in remembrance of him. We partake of bread and grape juice as a body of believers that comes together in unity to praise the Lord for his grace and remembering and commemorating the sacrifice of his body and blood for our sins. We haven't "forsaken the Eucharist" at all in fact:

Eucharist, from Greek εὐχαριστία (eucharistia), means "thanksgiving". The verb εὐχαριστῶ, the usual word for "to thank" in the Septuagint and the New Testament, is found in the major texts concerning the Lord's Supper, including the earliest:

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." I Corinthians 11:23,24 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucharist

Vlad - you’re on .
Support -

The holy young Men who loved our Lord - were the dudes of their time. They were the non conforming types. They were the hippies if you will - they were not writing it all down yet -

They were on the scene and wrote it slightly later on - they were living it at the time-

Tradition became before the scirpt- how can it be otherwise?

You tell your best story - someone might write it after??
