Venezuelas President Hugo Chavez once plotted to kidnap Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the cardinal revealed to a truth-and-reconciliation commission in his own country.
The Honduran cardinal reported that Chavez was outraged by his support for a coup that ousted President Manuel Zelaya, a Chavez ally, in 2009. Today, Cardinal Rodriguez says that he has not regrets about his role: conditions in Honduras have improved, he says, and he is now praying for Chavez, who is suffering from cancer.
In an interview with Vatican Insider, the Honduran cardinalwhose name is often mentioned among the possible candidates for the papacyacknowledged that his life has been threatened, but indicated that he is not worried about his own security. He said:
My bulletproof jacket? It's the crucifix on my chest. While the Rosary is my loaded pistol, containing 50 shots.
"Chavez wanted to have me kidnapped, now I pray for his recovery" (Vatican Insider)
I hope that the good Cardinal is protected from Chavez's chums: Obama and Hillery...
I’m praying for Hugo Chavez. I’m praying that the red bastard dies ASAP.
The Brave Freedom Loving Hondurans deserver better treatment than they got from Obozo and our State Department. It WAS NOT A COUP.... Mel Zelaya was legally removed, even the "truth commission" agreed to that. Mel was a Dope Smuggling Commie Loving Traitor, who is a Chavez want-to-be.
During the succession to JPII, this guy was rumored to be the progressive caucus’ choice. It’s not smart for Chavez to move against him-but then, smart and subtle has never been his suit anyway.
Actually, I meant the succession FROM JPII to the current Pope.
Say “Amen” and pass the ammunition.
Honduras ping

To whatever slack-lipped, microcephalic drooling idiot wrote this article:
“a coup that ousted President Manuel Zelaya,”
It was not a “coup,” it was Hondurans enforcing their constitution. Moron.
Wow! The word, “coup” did not appear once!
Well stated, friend!
This is a readily overlooked aspect of Latin American political situations, i.e., that citizens of European heritage are increasingly in the minority. Racism, where normally absent, has to be taught to the "victims."
The Race Card has expired. Either get a Member of the Human Race card or go join the animals in the jungle. I have no time for any of these Victimhood hustlers.
However, it probably seems rather hot and new in Latin America, where those who identify as more Indian or African than European are being successfully taught that they have serious grievances against the "white" populations.
This is serious mischief, indeed.
E.G., in Cuba the Armed forces are now heavily Afro-Cuban and heavily privileged, and thus firm supporters of Fidel and Raúl. Ditto Venezuela, and maximum ditto in Brazil.
