I didn’t say I didn’t think “a mormon” would vote across party lines for a mormon. I said that there was no evidence that Reid got a majority of the mormon vote in his election against Angle, as was suggested by the poster.
I can find no evidence for the claim, and every story that spoke about the religious issue in the race said that Angle was beating Reid in the Mormon vote, even though she had made comments against the religion.
If you can find some exit polling data for the race that shows Reid won the Mormon vote, please post it, and I’ll admit I am wrong. I have found no such evidence, and have posted my facts with references.
BTW, many mormons have questions about Reid’s true faith, given his long record of voting against the beliefs of the church; that’s one of the reasons cited for why he wasn’t winning the Mormon vote. Mormons are no more likely to vote for a “mormon in name only” than we are to vote for fake republicans.

Active Mormons (faithful) have no such illusions. Reid got a standing ovation at BYU when he spoke about how his LDS faith was the reason he voted as he did. He doesn’t vote against the teachings of the LDS church at all.
Also, faithful LDS know he is not a Mormon in name only, he does his home teaching, has callings, attends all services, has a temple recommend, which a MINO would never have or do.
Knowing Mormon culture as I do, exit polling data or not, the LDS will always vote for a Mormon over a non Mormon. I know no Mormon in NV who voted for Angle (and I know about 60 of them).
There is a freeper who wrote a book on Harry Reid and his Mormon connections in NV. Perhaps they could give you the numbers. I pinged some of the Flying Inamans who may also have the numbers handy.
Horrible assumptions, Chuck, that I dealt with in post #345.
Lds Inc doesn't let MINOs become home visiting teachers. Lds Inc doesn't make a habit of having MINOs give big speeches on the BYU campus.
From the article I linked @ post #345 from the Deseret News, October, 2007...the BYU campus doesn't give this kind of response to MINO MOrmons: At the end of his speech, Reid earned a standing ovation from a small percentage of the crowd and applause from the rest.
Sorry, Chuck. Seems this standing ovation + applause by the BYU faithful sort of undercuts your MINO theorizing that lacks a documented foundation.
BTW, many mormons have questions about Reids true faith...
Of course, they do. And what does Harry Reid tend to say about these Mormons? Per that same Salt Lake Trib October 2009 article I cited in post #345: "I think some of the most unChristian-like letters, phone calls, contacts I've had were from members of the [LDS] church, saying some of the most mean things that are not in the realm of our church doctrine or certainly Christianity," Reid said last week during an interview in his office.
