W#ell, apparently you saw the handwriting on the wall. Why don’t the rest of them? I can understand their handicap if they are raised in the Mormon church, but adults converting should surely be alarmed at what they learn!

Oh, and that is another similarity between Mormon and Islam....the7y are both patriarchies in the extreme.

I was a teenager when I converted and a young adult when I left and it was still difficult. Typical of most cults, knowledge is given a bit at a time. The LDS refer to this as ‘line upon line, precept upon precept’. It is part of the brainwashing and this slow feeding along with the covering up and whitewashing of their history means many LDS don’t really know much beyond what is taught in thier Sunday school classes. In that way, the internet has been invaluable in order to get the truth to the LDS and has led to a large number of people leaving Mormonism every year.

The other thing they do, is the LDS is very good at coming up with pat answers to any objections and couple this with a constant persecution syndrome and repetitive teaching that anyone who says anything slightly critical of Mormonism is an ‘anti’ who is lying, exaggerating, taking things out of context, or in it for the money. Finally, they are not encouraged to think for themselves, but rather trust what their leaders and Mormon apologist say on face value without examining it for themselves, the same way they dismiss anything an ‘anti’ might say.

When I started questioning what I was being told, and researching in an attempt to prove the ‘anti’s’ wrong, I was warned over and over again against ‘thinking myself out of the church’, and there is a lot of pressure on that front.
