My guess is that Romney doesn’t really believe most of this stuf

You are kidding right? One thing about Mormons that most people don’t understand is it is an all or nothing religion, you either believe all of it or none of it.

If you are ‘active’, like Romney is, then you accept all of mormon doctrine (prophets, white horse, etc). If you don’t believe it, then you are not ‘active’, you become a Jack Mormon (like Huntsman apparently is).

Romney having a temple recommend, attending services, having gone on a mission, married in the temple, etc, is proof he believes it.

Once you stop believing part of it, the rest falls by the wayside. Been there done that. Romney is a total TBM (true blue or truly brainwashed) Mormon.

I pinged some other ex-mos as well to confirm this for you.

You could be right. I am no expert on this. I know that most politicians attend church much more often once they are in the public eye. I know that 6% of the people in the USA are atheist/agnostic/non-religious, but no mainstream politician admits to this because of the votes they would lose. I have one good friend who is a Mormon, but other than conversations with him I admit I know very little about the Mormon religion so I could be wrong about Romney
