Interesting and inspiring story — now I know why the Catholic high school in Wichita is called Kapaun Mt. Carmel HS. I grew up in southern KS and heard of the school through sports but didn’t know the story of the man behind the name.
The book “Shepherd in Combat Boots” details the story of Fr. Kapaun. I remember hearing of him as a child in 1955.
