John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

That’s the same type of symbolism Jesus used often. It’s what He was using when He said “this is my body”, “I am the door”, and was referred to as the “lamb of God”.
