for those who have their powers of discernment 'trained' by constant 'practice' to distinguish good from evil.

Now that is a critical portion of that scripture Metmom. One cannot only read scripture but 'apply it'. And Sometimes we miss that mark and find God faithful to correct us as we continually seek his will and his desires for us.

The idea is "the training"... and "practice"....it comes thru allowing God to fine tune our hearts and minds to recognize evil when we see it and hear it. And He does it by and thru His word and the relationship we have with Him...and putting into practice what we know. I think I mentioned before that the people who handle money in our government are taught how to recognize counterfeits by "training" to know every detail of the real thing. I found that so interesting...because it is exactly the same thing with knwoing God and His word.

People who play religiousity and do not learn Gods word are targeted by the enemy for he knows they are vulnerable...and where. Thus so many do fall into cults and false teachings.

It gets back to Psalm 119:11. If we know God’s Word, we know His thoughts and we are ready in season and out of season to give an answer for everything.

Psalm 119:9-16

9How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.

10 With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments!

11I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.

12Blessed are you, O LORD;
teach me your statutes!

13With my lips I declare
all the rules of your mouth.

14In the way of your testimonies I delight
as much as in all riches.

15I will meditate on your precepts
and fix my eyes on your ways.

16I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word.

2 Timothy 4:1-3

1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
