Of course He's God, but with the same license one can assume Mary is the mother of God, one may assume she never considered herself as such, nor was it ever implied TO her that that is what she is/was.

Men bestowed that title upon her ... the same caliber of men that dubbed her the Queen of Heaven ... an obvious association to the pagan Ishtar.

One of the most common, if not THE most common, lies about the Catholic Church is that it teaches anything other than salvation through Christ and Him crucified.

However, your religion also teaches that to get that salvation, one must get the grace from Mary and then the salvation comes from Jesus thru Mary...Seen it posted on these threads, read it in papal bulls, encyclicals, blah, blah, blah....

Why not tell us what your religion teaches on all aspects of salvation, past and present...

It appears that God appointed Nestor to bring the truth to the deeply defiled Roman ‘church’ but they instead attacked God’s messenger.

You think so? Answer this: was it the human person of Jesus or the divine person of Jesus who was crucified for you?

That’s

RC’s obsessively habitual duty of religious obligation . . .

Not Proddy’s style on FR.

"one may assume"? You know this, how?

Elizabeth addressed her as "Mother of my Lord". Sounds a lot like "Mother of God" to me.

an obvious association to the pagan Ishtar

Really? So when pagans apply a title to one of their "gods," any subsequent use of that title by Christians is somehow "pagan" ... by "obvious association"?

The Greeks called Zeus "heavenly father". Guess calling God "heavenly father" is "an obvious association to the pagan Zeus," by the same logic you're applying.

That’s a very good way to explain it. I tried to, but got a little tangled. I meant mysteries pertaining to stages in the Lord’s life, and added the part of the “Stations Of The Cross”. Of course, “The Stations...” are part of the mysteries, but not that alone!

Proddys are keenly aware of

the thin skinned’ RC’s habitual compulsive frenzy

to take everything the LEAST BIT REMOTELY possible

PERSONALLY.

The RM has made it clear that it is NOT HIS JOB to even attempt to prevent such 2 year old whiny wailing silliness.

Then what is Nestorian heresy?

CORRECTION . . .

favor the RC’s as ATTACKERS

particularly with some fill-in mods etc.

Which is about as logical as associating it to this "Ishtar".

Do you take kindly to anyone who might belittle your mother?

No, but then I am a sinful man, not the sinless Son of God. I would like to be more Christlike; I'm not sure that I am ready to attribute to Christ my sinful reactions based on my human frailties.

Somehow, I can't imagine the teenage Jesus being goaded into a fight because someone told him his mother wore army boots.

Catholics must not doubt or deny any of the Marian dogmas for salvation, prayer to her is theoretically optional.

That is blatantly false. You lie.

Yes, in the Hail, Mary we are asking Mary to pray for us as we would a friend. I do not see this as worshipping Mary, just acknowledging her status as the Mother of Christ.

Nestorius said that it was wrong to call Mary Theotokos ("God-bearer", which we would translate as "Mother of God" in English -- the Gk "-tokos" means bear in the sense of "to bear a child; give birth to"), but she could be called Christotokos ("Christ-bearer").

When he was pressed on how the second could be right but not the first (isn't Christ God?), he ended up saying something that sounded suspiciously like the idea that there was a divine Jesus, who wasn't born of a woman, and a human Jesus, who was, and they were somehow co-located or connected, but still two persons, not one.

Oops, I’d like to correct that third sentence w/reference to the “Stations of the Cross”. That’s in the rosary, but only a part of it. What I’m getting at, is the “Mysteries” which are divided into groups, and are reflected upon in different stages of the rosary. These groups have their own theme and pertain to different stages in the life and ministry of the Lord.

Do not accuse another Freeper of telling a lie. It attributes motive, the intent to deceive. It is "making it personal."

Words such as "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motive.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

If you’re baptized in the Trinity, we’re brothers in Christ, which is even better.

My good Sir,

Referring to a FR thread is hardly authoritative, particulalry on Catholic Dogma.

It is the FR equivalent of a self-licking ice cream cone.

I remain, faithfully, your humble and obedient servant.

Question then - why do so many Catholic churches have statues and altars dedicated to Mary?
