That’s a bit out of reach for us in SoCal. Although we’re prepping for Philmont Scout Ranch, NM in July.
I’m looking forward to 10 blissful days in the backcountry with nary a piece of electronic hardware in sight except for a camera to record the trek.
How was the fishing?
My Scouting experiences as a youth were mainly in the jungle.

That was when I was a boy scout in 1953-56. We could wade out up to our asses with a fly pole and catch a beautiful cutthroat on every cast. We would hike about a mile to another lake called Coffin Lake which was frozen half way over. What wonderful memories.
I don’t know how the fishing is up there now.
If you come down here, Panguitch Lake is fifty miles south of here. Colorcountry has property there. We have been threatening to do a day or two of fishing down there but are always too busy. All of the Utah range of the Uintas have fabulous places to fish. Haven’t fished Panguitch lake however three years ago they removed all the fish because of the whirling disease and other trash issues. I hear the fish there now are clean and huge. CC might know better.

Before leaving Carthage Jail at 1:30 p.m., Stephen Markham listens as Smith says he has lost the spirit of God for disobedience in returning to Nauvoo.
In 1858 Brigham Young would say later "If Joseph Smith, Jun., the Prophet, had followed the Spirit of revelation in him he never would have gone to Carthage and never for one moment did he say that he had one particle of light in him after he started back from Montrose to give himself up in Nauvoo."
