And I don't see Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. despairing over their lives being useless because they are not Christians.

muslims with their religio-political system - killing anyone who opposes it - where's your universal golden rule there?

Hindus and the untouchable cast - lowest of the low in hindu society - flock to Christianity when presented - in the face of death from hindu. So where's your universal golden rule?

Buddists in se asia - embracing communism and atheistism - kill(ed) hundreds of thousands - and your universal golden rule is where?

"..and your universal golden rule is where?"

"..truth is given to us to understand. This is a critical point, because while a man can know many things that are untrue, it is not possible to understand something that is untrue. For example, this is why we cannot understand true evil. It is incomprehensible, which is one of the things that marks it as evil.

On the other hand, this is why it is not exactly correct to say that we can "know" God.

After all, most of the evil committed in the name of God is done so in the belief that they know God. But do they understand God? No, obviously not.

As brother Blake expressed it, truth cannot be told so as to be understood and not believed.

This is why leftists do not understand religion, despite what they may "know" about it. And again, "...this is why it is so utterly fruitless to debate an atheist, because all they can tell you is what they know. But ask them what they understand of God, and their only honest response can be "nothing."

Ever read The Peace Child?

Treachery was the highest ideal and Judas was the hero.

Golden Rule?

Eat your neighbor rather than love him?

Wasn't that what befell those Jews who worshiped the Golden Cow? And isn't that what the Israelites were commanded to do with Canaanites and others tribes the Hebrew God detested? Doesn't the OT command Israelites to dash babies against the rocks  and cut them to pieces, and to ravage the wives of their enemies?

Muslims also believe they are commanded by their god's own words in the Koran to spread Islam and to kill those who refuse. Ironically one of the five pillars of that sick religion is alms giving and other things preached by other Abrahamic religions that have the Golden Rule in them.

Hindus and the untouchable cast - lowest of the low in hindu society - flock to Christianity when presented - in the face of death from hindu. So where's your universal golden rule?

Christianity tolerated slavery all these centuries, so what's the difference?

Buddists in se asia - embracing communism and atheistism - kill(ed) hundreds of thousands - and your universal golden rule is where?

Buddhism is very much based on the Golden Rule. What people do with it is a different story. Some people profess to be Christians yet don't act Christ-like.

At any rate the issue was someone's comment about non-Christians despairing over their worthless lives...because they aren't Christians. I still say, hardly.
