“They are of Jewish ethnicity, and accept Jesus as the Messiah”

No, Messiach Jews include anyone who claims to be a Jew, and claims to also believe in Jesus as the Messiah.

The Jewish ethnicity is neither here nor there, as the ethnicity doesn’t describe observance. What we have now are Jesus followers who are not of a Jewish lineage, describing themselves as being “Jews”. It’s a movement, like calling Passover “Resurrection Day”.

A basic tenet of Judaism is the belief that the Messiah has yet to arrive - it forbids a belief in Jesus as anything Messianich.

They are Jews.

A person doesn’t stop being a jew because they embrace Yeshua/Jesus as the Messiah, anymore than some stop being Jews because they believed that Bar Kochba or Hezakiah was the Messiah.

The Messianic Jews I know are all of Jewish lineage.

My sister-in-law is a Messianic Jew. She was born to Conservative Jewish parents, and thus was as Jewish as you on the day she was born. She later became a Messianic. She observes Passover and the other Jewish holidays.

So you're telling me that she is not a Jew any more?

So you're saying that Hasidic Jews who decided that Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson was the Messiah, by that decision lost their status as Jews?

This is a modern thought...If you read of the Jews who were believers in Jesus Christ in Ancient Israel, I believe they were referred to followers of the way.....The Disciples of Jesus worshipped in the temple, by all accounts they remained Jews in all what they did....The Jews did not even know how to bring gentiles into the fold of the Christ..Messiah of Israel...

Not one Jew who knew Jesus and believed he was the Promised Messiah of Israel said they were no longer Jews, neither did anyone else in Israel...
