Then again, you stated that there was a problem with Christ saying that some of those shown in Hell knew Him when they were on Earth. You jump to the conclusion that they must have been Christians, but the text doesn’t say that, it simply says that they knew Him. Slight, but important, difference there. No evidence that those shown were Christians, just that they knew Christ on earth.

Jmouse did not jump to that conclusion. That's what the text of the document SAID.

The document says that there were Christians in hell because of sin in their lives and that her mother would be saved and die right away otherwise she'd fall back into sin and be lost.

That clearly puts it in the works based salvation category.

There are, by my reading of the passage, two different groups being addressed. One was made up of those who physically new Christ while He was on Earth and the other group was made up of those who were Christians but had backslidden. In my view, that’s two different topics.

Anyway, let me ask you this. If God just winks at this “day to day” sin and says “It’s okay, you’ve believed so go do whatever you want”, then why even say that we need to repent of our sins after we’re saved? Why the passage stating that, if we do sin, we have an advocate with the Father?

The implication is clear. You’re saved by Christ, but if there is unrepentant sin in your life, it stains your garment where you cannot enter into God’s presence, due to the fact that sin is not allowed in His sight. This doesn’t negate Christ’s sacrifice for us, but it does mean that we’re no longer allowed to just live any way we want.
