16 And I, Nephi, did build a temple; and I did construct it after the manner of the temple of Solomon save it were not built of so many precious things; for they were not to be found upon the land, wherefore, it could not be built like unto Solomons temple. But the manner of the construction was like unto the temple of Solomon; and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine.
1 Kgs. 5:17
And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
He did not say that he didn't use wood, iron, copper, brass, steel, gold, silver, and ores, but that some of the same stones use in Solomon's temple were no available
Putting aside for the moment regarding the ‘precious things’ found and not found; just move to the part about ‘steel’. Steel was not invented until AD1100 or thereabouts. It was called Damascus steel at the time. This is way out of date for Nephi using the term ‘steel’ in the Book of Mormon. But you still have to go back to ‘yes there were precious things’ to ‘they were not found’ regardless of the fact whether or not they were used. There’s a contradiction there that you can’t answer. Nephi is saying the manner of construction was like unto the temple of Solomon and you’re saying that it wasn’t.
