read Matthew 3:14-15 for your answer. John’s baptism was not the same as our Christian Baptism, as Jesus did not die on the cross yet. Once Jesus died and rose again, He commanded a baptism that was for the remission of sins and receiving the Holy Spirit.
But, I thought you just said there was only one baptism not two? Tell me, where does Scripture say the Apostles or the other followers of Jesus were baptized after the resurrection? Are you aware of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and that "water" is not involved?
***He commanded a baptism that was for the remission of sins and receiving the Holy Spirit.***
And yet, Cornelius received the HOLY SPIRIT before he was baptised.
Look at the verse that Peter spoke just before the HOLY SPIRIT fell on him!
Act 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
Act 10:44 ¶ While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
