IC: Why are you on my homepage? Are you interested in me as a poster? Or are you simply looking for anything to use in a personal attack because our exchange isn’t going well for you on a particular topic? Wouldn’t you rather go back and debate whatever issue we are talking about on its merits?

Um, because you bait people into going there by referring to it.

Personal attacks simply show weakness. Plus it is easy to be nasty on a computer. But it is still bad manners.

Now from time to time I will call someone a “bigot.” This isn’t a personal attack but rather a description of behavior.

I also think it is a diversionary tactic to sway the discussion away from the topic - which places their idolized “Church” in a not so idyllic position.

For those who are honest about such things, admission of past wrong actions and earnest striving to make things right would be far more productive and would bring the discussion back to the merits in the article - and there are many. There would be far more people interested in joining the chat once the riffraff trouble makers have left.
