Ever since I sent in a donation to Catholic Relief Services for Haitian earthquake relief I have been besieged with letters from Catholic organizations promising me all sorts of “blessed” gifts if I make a donation to them.

***Do you have examples?***

No, I just toss them in the trash along with the outdoor magazines promising a wonderful gift if I subscribe to their magazine.

I did write to a non-Catholic denomination for some informantion and ten years later they are still sending me requests for money, so it is not a Catholic Only thing.

so the “early church” was not the Catholic Church?
if yes, please name some of these church members who did not hold to the Catholic Faith and call themselves “Catholic”
you do realize these codex’s contain the “apocrypha”, they are in your Bible, right?
also, they contain the book of barnabas and shepard of hermes, i assume they are in your Bible as well?
no, the Catholic Church set the NT canon, you follow Catholic Sacred Tradition without realizing it!

We're not looking for a submissive woman; we're looking for a perfect one:

Why should she have to settle for less?

The only man who deserves a perfect one is one that does this.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

I guess that you are not Reformed. But I agree wholeheartedly with this. I try my best to hoist my wife upon that pedestel that she deserves to be upon.

Oh and BTW that includes loving her when she makes mistakes too. In case you don’t understand the verses it certainly doesn’t make a wife your door mat .

My wife does not make mistakes. She is very clear on that.

Man sets the tone for his house . If the tone in his house is bad he had better start asking himself what he is doing that the tone in his house is bad.

That is correct. I find that women despise men that they can dominate.

Interesting. I find that many so-called Catholic organizations are hucksters of the first rank and transcend religious beliefs. There are many of them that are being prosecuted right now and hopefully be bunged into jail in the Bernie Madoff wing of their local federal pen.

Why must it be assumed infants are in the house?

Because there are multiple times the word "household" is used in Scripture. "Household" is a term for "family." And the assurance of salvation is made to families, over and over. It would be a real stretch to think there were no children in any of those households given assurance of their salvation.

I don't believe your skepticism over this fact precludes your children from being members of His covenant family. They will come to faith because they've been raised by a God-glorifying father and mother who may very well attribute their children's faith to their own good and righteous choice made after they are baptized.

But some of us will recognize that these children were given to your family by God for a specific purpose -- their salvation which will bring glory to God.

And you will not fail in that assignment from God because you believe in Christ as Lord, God and Savior. Which is what all parents need to keep uppermost in their minds and efforts (and which is confirmed in their children's baptisms) - that they have a profound responsibility to raise children who kneel to none but Christ.

Also, not everything Rome preaches is wrong (some days it just feels that way.)

Rome (ostensibly) is Trinitarian. Rome baptizes children.

But as with so much in Rome, it takes a valid instruction from God and turns it into error, i.e. baptismal regeneration.

Men are named by God to His family from before the world began. We are made aware of that fact, however, when the Holy Spirit regenerates our hearts, usually as young people or adults or even on our last day on earth.

But that regeneration is a miracle, and God can perform it at any point in a person's life. "With God all things are possible."

Because ultimately it is not faith that saves us, but God's grace through faith. And that grace is specific, targeted and effectual for all that God ordains.

****Water baptism cannot remit sins anymore than circumcision can set us apart or eating certain meats can damn us now.***

I’ve seen some people go into the baptismal waters a dry sinner and come out a wet sinner. No change in their attitude, or later actions at all.

Misogyny is alive and well in the Catholic church.

It is far more robust amongst Protestant women, I find.

Paul wrote in Galatians 3:27 “for as many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ” Again, this is the same Paul who says there is ONE baptism.

you were going to tell me why Paul was baptized in Acts 22:16 and it was not to wash away his sins.

what you fail to realize is the Apostles traveled all of the Roman Empire spreading the Gospel and this deposit of faith was embraced by the Catholic Church. It was called “universal” because what was believed in antioch, corinth, rome, alexandra was the same Faith. and the Faith they received, was “one baptism for the forgiveness of sins”

tell me, what happened to the “true” Apostolic Church when the Catholic Church appeared and started the false teaching of water baptism regeneration? who were the “true” Christians who opposed them?

ok, i gave you more credit than that. i thought you would see sarcasm in my post, but i guess that escaped you.

Seen and ignored.

I try never to pass up a good opportunity to preach the Gospel.

So have I, Ruy. So have I. But the fact they walked out wet made them somehow feel that God was impressed with their action. I’ve also seen people who have believed the gospel, that Christ died for their sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, that it is the finished work of Christ, and that alone that saves, who are confident, joyful, thankful, and humble in their salvation. And yet, not wet.

so you think ‘good works” save us, these people you refer to didn’t earn their salvation?
