hiding them? LOL! attend Mass and you will hear practically the entire Bible read in a three year period. they sure went to a lot of trouble to copy and preserve the Word, if they were trying to hide them. wouldn’t it have been easier to order no more copies made? such nonsense!
you do agree the Church was given the authority to teach in Matthew 28 and scripture is not supposed to be privately interpreted against doctrines taught by the Church?
“hiding them? LOL! attend Mass and you will hear practically the entire Bible read in a three year period”
You are familiar with one of the big problems the Catholic Church had with Martin Luther, right? The fact that he translated the Bible. So that others besides Catholic Priests who until then would not allow anyone else to read the Bible.
“you do agree the Church was given the authority to teach”
Jesus gave everyone the ‘authority’ to learn. In fact I can sit down and speak directly to Jesus without being forced through a priest.
“scripture is not supposed to be privately interpreted against doctrines taught by the Church?”
Only according to man made Catholic doctrine. I’m sure if I was going to write doctrine to give myself more power I’d try to circumvent the rules as well.

Nope. And particularly not prior to Vatican 2 (17% of the NT, 1% of the OT):
