I don't agree with you that there IS folly in sola scriptura, in fact what I am seeing more and more on these threads is either a total misunderstanding or a purposeful misstating of the doctrine. What I find most interesting is those who claim to not hold any doctrines that are contradictory of Scripture because, by stating it that way, it sure sounds like they are using Scripture as their very authority for doctrines of the Christian faith. This reveals that they really do know what the real meaning of the concept is, and that is simply that the Holy Scriptures are the standard by which we ensure the beliefs we hold are true.
What sola scriptura does NOT mean is that nobody can have their traditions to follow or that there cannot be gifted teachers and preachers of the Bible within the church of God.
