Who is Jesus Christ? Unlocking the Mystery in the Gospel of Matthew is a very serious and well-thought-out attempt to teach us once again just who is being proclaimed in the Gospel of Saint Matthew. It is a slow, steady journey through this Gospel, a journey that pauses over and over again to examine in a thoughtful and prayerful way the names and titles given to our Lord in this Gospel... I hope that in the years to come [Sammons] will follow this book up with later volumes on the other evangelists. I also hope that we will see more and more books like this, intelligent, erudite, yet accessible, on our Divine Savior and his life and personality." - --Fr. Benedict Groeschel, C.F.R.

What a great read! My boys had a great time hearing it too as I read it aloud.

Praise God that your parents and each of the groups you prayed with were there to help you grow deeper in your faith!

When you mentioned the rosary pamphlet, I howled! I leave those with a rosary wherever I can! “Born” Catholic, I more deeply learned my faith, including how to pray the rosary, from the same pamphlet and the same sorts of sidewalk counselors, but 15 years later.....so in your case, beginning Methodist was a faster path to your sainthood efforts than being born into Catholicism directly!! I thank God for you - that you are helping folks find that decision sooner and deeper!

And what a small world - one parish over and praying for the same mill to cease!

“He opened up intellectual horizons I never dreamed possible while overwhelming me spiritually through the sacraments.... God understood my ignorance and intervened to direct me to the rich intellectual and sacramental life of the Catholic Church.”

Great stuff! Best of all, it’s true!

When I first converted to Catholicism decades ago, I was taught the rosary by my RCIA sponsor, a lady who, in addition to being mother of a very large family, was serene, humorous, and lovely.

I learned it, and forgot it for quite a few years. Then, I saw all the folks on FR who made fun of it. After a while, I decided that whatever they hated about the Church, I loved, and picked up my rosary again. Heh!

It was scary. I didn’t want to turn into a bliss-ninny, or change in a radical way, you know, lose my edge. Thanks be to God, I stayed me! And the Rosary has been a wonderful mainstay of my daily meditation and prayer on the Gospel of Christ Jesus, my beloved Lord and Savior.

I recommend it. ;-D
