Let’s check with Pope Brent.
1. Correct title is Bishop of Rome.
2. And it is Rome, not "rome".
3. He is not "telling people what to do", he is pointing out something they do wrongly. Therein lies the difference.
4. No one is forcing you to heed him, so your protestations are neither needed nor desired.
Thanks for bringing that up....I forgot about the Polish Pope who also saw the evils of socialism and communism in his hometown. Godlessness has always led to Cultures of Death and one without hope and massive killing.
If anyone today understands the extreme evil and nihilism of Marxist ideology—it is this Pope with his German background and his brilliant mind and the ability to digest all that Postmodern German philosophy in the original language.
When you understand and can define the ideas you are fighting, you can be much more effective.
That sure adds a lot to the intellectual discussion.
Why do you resort to four year old behavior? You must be a left wing “Alinsky-ite”. That is their strategy.
“You must be a left wing Alinsky-ite.”
Umm. Hardly.
In this post, I clarify.....

P.S. I doubt if a left-winger would display my tagline......
“savagesusie”
Do you “Borders Language Culture” ?
You are exactly right.
Traditional names carry tradition and meaning of culture to future generations. Destroy traditions and you destroy the culture. The transmission of culture gives more meaning to life and children and make them feel special, and not just accidental animals. (Can’t have that in communism).
The Pope knows the Marxists are trying to destroy all traditions so they can redefine every aspect of culture—Destroy Natural Law Theory and the definition of right and wrong to make it meaningless and Godless since Natural Law is based on God’s Law.
Killing traditions kills history. Marxists need to erase history to erase the flaws of Marxism and destroy the ideas of freedom and individualism which the Christian God creates.......that importance of every single person.
Marxist want to kill the useless eaters so Christianity is anathema to them.
Then anything becomes good which man decides—not God. Like homosexual acts, pederasty and abortion—all were rampant in pagan, godless cultures.
I was referring to your comment being the strategy of Alinsky. You have to admit that ridiculing something not even relevant to the ideas is right out of his Rules.
With a cursory glance, I didn’t see a specific reference other than “Saul, also known as Paul.”
I remember the set readings. They would usually say from an epistle according to St Peter, or from the gospel.
I don’t really remember them reading the OT, although as I said, I was very young when I attended the Catholic church. About 10. And I was an atheist! so I didn’t pay that much attention.
What is the percentage, in your opinion, of OT readings during the year? I really am interested, because this is not the first time this has come up between me and other protestants.
Up until I was a member of FR (been lurking for years) I never really cared what the Catholics thought of me. I really never thought much of them.
Now that I’ve had experience with Catholics on this site I find I don’t really care what they think of me and now I really don’t think too much of them.
While some are surely nice people, the ones whom I seem to come into contact with on this site tend to be bullies whom I’d never put up with were I to meet them in person.
That said, if any of them wish to flame me for what I’ve said they are welcome to do so as I doubt that my indifference to their opinions of me will be any greater or any less.
I like Spirit personnally.
I have been a Savage fan.....Yes! Absolutely! Love him. He probably has a much higher level of education than most people in this country. What gravitates me to him is his logic that is based on Natural Law Theory, which just happens to be the basis of the government of this country and the origin of moral law. The geniuses who Founded this country understood the importance of Natural Law Theory.
That is how you can spot Marxists....those who defy Natural Law Theory and are trying to totally transform this country into a godless hellhole....where there is no border, no culture and just Babel where there can be no unity, no loyalty, no family which will always result in chaos and no freedom.
Destroy culture, destroy a common language, and do not have respected borders and you can have no civil society. Never can happen. History proves it but Marxists hide or rewrite history.....Why would you insinuate that those three elements are not essential to a civil society that can survive?
It doesn’t say in the bible. I don’t know if it was changed by God or Paul.
I do know it “makes sense”, as most biblical names do. Paul means “small, or humble”. Saul, as bible history tells, was the first King of Israel. He seized power he never should have and consulted with a witch. He also seems to have been a touch unhinged.
Paul was a devoted student of the scriptures. It seems only right that he would leave behind a name of a self important king to assume a name of humility. ‘We have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us’

Moonbeam, I’m sorry your parents were so callous.
What, Joanna or some sort?
Over three years, including daily masses, the entire bible is read through.
“Protestants have Sunday School, and Catholics Religious Instruction. RI just doesnt emphasize Bible Study. I remember learning church sacraments and catechism.”
I teach religious instruction, and we spend a significant amount of time in biblical study.
Sure, it’s different from the usual “take a book and get as close to it as possible”, but the overview is much broader.
The reason the sacraments figure so prominently is that these classes are preparation for confirmation. They have to know the essence of their Catholic faith in order to teach others. Now, there are similarities, and occasionally I do have to go over the areas where Catholics and Protestants agree, but we spend significantly more time on the differences.
Fr. Dan Madigan of Clarksburg, California has said otherwise. One of my relatives has a little boy named Elijah and Fr. Madigan asked us why we didn’t have a Christian name for the boy.
