No, your Honor; I did NOT threaten my wife: I LOVE her!
It was GOD!!
HE was the one who warned her severely!!
After all; it is HIS eternal law of POLYGAMY - not mine!
Perhaps it would help the case against me if I show the court the ACTUAL SCRIPTURES?

When Moroni visited Joseph Smith in 1823 he told him that “God had a work for me to do; and that my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken of among all people.”
A true prophecy indeed.
I could not have said it better it has shades of WW11 [Restornu, post #299 to DU's #296 above]
Talk about overdramatization bordering or exceeding drama queen status!
You sound, DU -- with Restornu's reinforcement -- like a spoiled privileged American who ne'er has studied either...
...TRUE CENSORSHIP in unfree republics in history -- or which still occur today in unfree geographies 'round the world!
You think PD being allowed to retain his thread is "censorship" and "cutting off free speech"?
Resty...you think a thread category reassignment is WWII???
God forbid if EITHER OF YOU ever come to a FREEPER potluck and JimRob or his mods put your green jello in the dessert section when you absolutely assert it belongs in the side dish or salad section because of the carrots graded in!
What a catastrophe that would be!
Why, somebody might "mistakenly" put whipped cream on top of it or something!
How "intimidating" that might be to some Mormon from ever bringing green jello to a FREEPER potluck again! Oh, noz!!!
These "new" boundaries are just...just...just INTOLERABLE! How dare host JimRob & his mods be so category-intolerant!
[ALL: What's sad is that some won't get the true irony of the previous two sentences!]
DU & Resty: I am loathe to engage in label-mongering...but when I've heard this kind of exorbitant exaggeration from kids before -- I haven't hesitated to let them know what spoiled brats they are!
By all means, register disapproval/disagreement if you will...but censorship...intimidation...cutting off free speech...WWII???
JimRob: All I can offer is a profuse apology. Today we have people who might be 1/32nd of a descendant from somebody who mistreated Native Americans in the 19th century apologizing to contemporary Native Americans. Well, likewise, even though I don't speak for Mormons today, as a descendant of Mormons, please accept an apology from one who carries Mormon blood: I am so sorry that members of my one-time family's spiritual identity have misdirected venom, whining, & overdramatization being placed in your lap. Please forgive us.
You have been a fair and most gracious host, and I appreciate you and your moderators -- and what you do on behalf of liberty, including religious liberty!
Ping: Very brief mention (”PD” in #1303...forgot to ping you)
And I'm running as fast as I can; just to stay in one place!
Well; a TRUE Mormon would accept what the leaders OVER him have stated; wouldn't he???
The Bible dictionary says that God is The Supreme Governor of the universe and the Father of mankind. We learn from the revelations that have been given that there are three separate persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. From latter-day revelation we learn that the Father and the Son have tangible bodies of flesh and bone, and that the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit without flesh and bone (Doctrine and Covenants 130:22-23).
Mormons believe that these three godsseparate in personality {but}. . . united as one in purpose, in plan, and in all the attributes of perfection (Mormon Doctrine, p. 317)are the partnership which rules the universe, with God the Eternal Father the controlling and governing power. LDS Apostle James E. Talmage states it this way: These constitute the Holy Trinity, comprising three physically separate and distinct individuals, who together constitute the presiding council of the heavens (Jesus the Christ, p. 32).
This belief is distinct from the traditional Christian doctrine of the Trinity, which generally maintains that they are three persons but one in essence. All three members of the Godhead are eternal and equally divine, but play somewhat different roles.

The backstory...
THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS SECTION 132
5157, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 5866, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.
51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.
52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.
53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.
55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.

Yup!
This pronouncement is right up there with...
I will be known for good and evil..."
It's early yet... ;^)
Fact is if you are using anything but the bible its not Christian.
Having been banned by other web sites, I have been through this (also, having not wished to join other liberal blogs).
I simply would link to the web site that banned me, and answer their stupidity in my own blog.
And if the fear is that someone would stumble across the caucus thread and miss the other, you could ask the religion moderator to allow a single non-caucus post to link to the open thread; I would guess that would be granted, and would be a reasonable way to allow a faith group to discuss among themselves in peace while still providing discussion for the rest of the board.
And we still have the moderators to remove the caucus designation if the caucus thread is attacking other faiths rather than simply discussing the faith of the caucus.
As to “chafing”, when I first started reading caucus threads, I couldn’t stand not correcting people who had their bible all wrong. That’s why I don’t read the caucus threads anymore.
I love my Catholic conservative brothers and sisters, but there are a few things their church believes that astound me; occasionally other beliefs different than mine have the same effect. And I know that some Catholics and some protestants feel the same way about my brand of belief.
But if they post in a caucus, they are off-limits to my “correction”. It doesn’t matter how much their belief offends my sensibility, if they simply discuss their own belief in a positive manner, and don’t attack other beliefs, the caucus protects them from having to deal with distractions like me and others trying to save them from their error.
If we didn’t have caucus threads, we’d be tearing at each other’s throats over religion all the time, and would fail to do the good conservative political work that is necessary. I don’t think that would necessarily HAVE to be the case, as I believe people can disagree about faith in a loving and respectful manner.
But if you have seen some open Catholic threads, or poke around a bit, you will find that it isn’t just the Mormons that feel they are attacked for their faith here at FR. The nature of freeper discussion appears to be a more phyiscal and personal debating style, one that leads to hurt feelings among those who allow feelings to be hurt by anonymous people posting to internet forums.
BTW, on your specific analogy, I actually do think that way. When I see something on the news that I think is dead wrong, I feel much better if I see or hear someone publicly state MY position; it doesn’t matter to me if it isn’t in the same forum; if someone has said it, I feel better.
Ah nose rich y'all when's ah seez it!
