"As of December 31, 2009, there were 51,736 LDS missionaries serving in 344 of convert baptisms per missionary per year has fallen from a high of 8.03 in 1989 to just 4.67 in 2005.[13] He argues that the number of converts would increase if Mormon missionaries made greater efforts in meeting new people; he points out that the average companionship spends only four or five hours per week attempting to meet new people.[13] From Wikipedia
How terrible it is that a handful of Christians post a handful of threads per week on FreeRepublic to counter the proselytizing efforts of the missionaries and public relations campaign of the mormon church. Don't you just feel SO sorry that the poor, persecuted mormons aren't able to have their message heard?
You have to admire on some level the faith of these people without ONE SINGLE SHRED of evidence.
Intense but tragically misplaced.
(Note to YR: You have every right in this country to have such faith.)
“So, what is your approach when you consider that there are a MINIMUM of 52,000 mormon missionaries going worldwide every single day, slamming the beliefs of Christians by claiming
that there was a “Great Apostasy” and God removed His Gospel (which these Christians still believe in) from the earth and replaced it by “restoring” a completely different
belief to Joseph Smith?”
Missionaries are invited into homes, to explain our understanding of Jesus Christ, and His gospel. There should be NO slamming of beliefs, whether Christian, Jews, Islam, or anyone else! As a representative of Jesus Christ, missionaries should always be polite, patient, and civil, because we’re “guests” in someone’s home.
I have come to the conclusion that Christians were opressed during the Roman empire (64AD) and continued with occasional respites of a few months or even years at a time through 305AD. When Constantine came to the throne in the first quarter of the 4th century, a radical change was inaugurated in the attitude of the state toward the church. The church was already in great measure an apostate institution and even the organization and service bore remote resemblance to the Church of Jesus Christ. The Church of Rome loudly asserted control over spiritual destinies, pretended to forgive or retain individual sins, and the Vicar of God sat in state to judge as God. This fulfilled Paul’s prophesy in 2 Thess 2:3,4. Then came the Reformation. The conflict between Rome and Protestantism produced mutual hatred was a result of sword, ax, and the stake murdering many innocent truth seekers.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the embodiment of Liberty; it is the truth that shall make us free. At the appointed time, the Eternal Father and His Son, Jesus the Christ appeared to man upon the earth, and inaugerated the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times.
As for Wikipedia, and their opinions, I would take their remarks with a large grain of salt. I’m a returned missionary, and I know whereof I speak.
