Urged by faith, we are obliged to believe and to maintain that the Church is one, holy, catholic, and also apostolic. We believe in her firmly and we confess with simplicity that outside of her there is neither salvation nor the remission of sins, as the Spouse in the Canticles [Sgs 6:8] proclaims: If this is not true, then why in the world does the text of Unam Sanctam begin this way? To go down a couple of paragraphs and insert a conjunction, whereby others are included seems a bit disingenuous. Why not say it in the beginning, in big letters? No, "we are obliged to believe and to maintain..." seems to be the most important point.

And I believe, if you were to ask an educated Eastern Orthodox, you would find that he would be in full agreement with that statement. See, both East and West subscribe to statement in the Creed that states: "I believe in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church."
