You offered, "When the heart is right, works of righteousness naturally follow." And Norm, what is the thing that can make the heart right? And what does it mean to say 'the heart is right'?

It takes the Life of God in the heart of man, to live the nature of God in the world. Jesus did it 24/7/365. Christians do it to the extent that they accept the leadership of the Lord who dwells within them.

Do Mormons believe that throughout their life God's Spirit dwells within them? Or do Mormons believe that if they live a righteous enough life God will then add His Spirit to them? Please answer this most vital of questions in your own heart. Your eternal destiny is actually riding on it.

Hi MHG,

We believe that the Holy Spirit can dwell in our hearts throughout our lives.

Book of Mormon, Moroni Chapter 8:

25 And the first fruits of repentance is baptism; and baptism cometh by faith unto the fulfilling the commandments; and the fulfilling the commandments bringeth remission of sins;

26 And the remission of sins bringeth meekness, and lowliness of heart; and because of meekness and lowliness of heart cometh the visitation of the Holy Ghost, which Comforter filleth with hope and perfect love, which love endureth by diligence unto prayer, until the end shall come, when all the saints shall dwell with God.
